Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Chain stitch (ch). Slip stitch (sl st). Single crochet (sc).

Pattern Description:

Ahoy! Wouldn't this smiling skull and crossbones applique look great on a tote bag or skirt? Although the shaping is a bit complicated, the glittery silver applique is crocheted entirely using simple chain, single crochet, and slip stitches. Make several and really get your pirate on!

US crochet terminology.

Gauge:

17 sc = 2" (5cm), 17 rows = 2" (5 cm)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Skull: Approx 4 3/4" (12 cm) high x 3 1/2" (9 cm) wide. Crossbones: Approx 6" (15 cm) long x 1 1/4" (3 cm) wide.

Materials:

  • Size 10 metallic crochet thread in White/Silver, such as Royale (Article 162M) color #00015 White/Silver: approx 50 yards (46 m) for each Skull and 25 (23 m) yards for ea Bone (50 yards for 2 Bones).
  • Steel crochet hook size 5
  • Embroidery needle
