Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Double Crochet
  • 2-DC TOG
  • FPDC

Pattern Description:

This versatile rasta tam pattern gives you three options.
A Basic Rasta Tam, an Adjustable Rasta Tam and a Visor Rasta Tam. All made through making simple variations.
The US and UK stitch versions are also included in this pattern.
This pattern makes a size small rasta tam which is suitable for neck length dreads. Just add rows after row 15 for a longer tam.


6 dc's/tr's and 3 rows = 2 inches.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 12 inches from the top of the hat to the brim edge.
  • 14 inches across the widest part of the hat.
  • 22 inches around the brim of the hat, which is suitable for most adults. It does stretch a little as well.


  • Aran Weight Yarn - Atleast 140 yards, 128 metres.
  • 5.5mm/I hook

You Will Also Need:

  • Yarn needle to weave in ends.
  • Cord stop or beads for the adjustable tam.
