Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Pattern is written using standard US stitches.
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • magic circle/adjustable ring See attached tutorial.
  • hdc spike stitch = hdc worked in indicated row below then drawn up to the level of the working row.
  • inv hdc dec = Invisible half double crochet decrease. Yarn over, insert hook through front loop of first stitch. Insert hook through front loop of second stitch. Yarn over and pull through two loops. Yarn over and pull through all three loops on hook.
  • sc dec = Single crochet decrease. Insert hook under both loops of first stitch. Pull through a loop. Insert hook under both loops of second stitch, pull through a loop. Yarn over and pull through all three loops on hook.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Approximately 61/2" wide by 12" long


  • Knit Picks Comfy Worsted, 75% pima cotton, 25% acrylic or equivalent
  • 1 ball White (Penguin-approximately 9 yards/7 grams) (Polar Bear-approximately 100 yards/43 grams)
  • 1 ball Black (Penguin-approximately 30 yards/27 grams) (Polar Bear-small amount)
  • 1 ball Crme Brle (Yellow) Penguin-small amount
  • 1 ball Marlin (Teal) Penguin-small amount
  • G (4.00 mm) hook
  • Velcro (hook and loop closure)
  • Polar Bear-small amount of poly-fiberfill

You Will Also Need:

  • stitch markers, yarn needle, needle and matching thread

Suggested yarn:

120 yards of Worsted weight
