(4) Name: 'Crocheting : Peepers

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Foundation Half dc
  • single crochet
  • double crochet
  • treble crochet

Pattern Description:

Peepers gives hand painted yarns an undulating and pleasing effect. Both the short and long version begin with foundation half double crochet (fhdc) and use chain stitch, single, double and treble crochet with a three row repeat. By working in the round and turning your work the cowl becomes reversible. The easy Sawtooth Border is optional but makes a lovely decorative edge.

Most DK or Light Worsted Weight yarns will work well for this pattern, especially hand painted yarns. Both the short and long version of Peepers require only one hank of Mountain Colors for continuous crocheting. No joins to worry about or ends to weave in (except at the beginning and end, of course:)

18 fhdc and 7.5 rows = 4 inches

200 yds for the short Peepers.
230 yds for the long Peepers.

  • Short Cowl - 26" around, 9.5" wide
