Hi!
I am enjoying this pattern but I dobr understand rnd 1 of the repeat rows. It states "skip 2 dc, ch1, v st in next sc". Must I do a slip stitch before the chain 1? It is this ch 1 throwing me off.
Please help me with some advice!
Thank you

Hi!
I really love your hat, and started making it last night (Toddler size- starting with 8 sc in ring). I am stumped at round 5. If I place a Vstitch in the V stitch and a V stitch in betwee the double crochet rounds * to *, that would be 28 total V stitches. I tried that, and it looks like too many stitches as it ruffles. The pattern says it should come out to 14V stitches at the end. Please help.
Ann

Hi Ann,
Please be sure to read the pattern notes, especially:
When the pattern directs you to work in a V-st, insert your hook in the space beneath the ch-1 of the V-st.

Be careful not to work in either the dc before or after the ch-1 sp unless otherwise directed, as together the

(dc, ch 1, dc) all counts as one V-st.

For round 5, you will work one V-st in each V-st. Do not count the dc(s) that makes up that v-st as anything. So, the next v-st you make after the one that was in the V-st, ( the one that will be "between the next 2 dc") will feel like you are skipping 2 dc to find the space between. You will end up with 14-- one in each V-st, and one in the space between each set of 2 dcs. (so, not on either side of the set of 2, but just in the middle of the 2 dc).

I hope that helps,

Linda

I've started this twice - the first time I did the baby size and it was massive. I tried again starting with 5 instead of 7, and it's still heaps too big for a newborn. I might try again starting with 4 I really like it but it's becoming very time consuming!

I made 4 already!!! For babies and toddlers. This hat looks so delicate and soft and so... girly. Instead of fabric flower, I found a crochet flower I like to attach on it. BEAUTIFUL. Thank you so much. I will upload my project picture soon.

Maybe I'm stupid, but i followed directions. Marked rows, counted and mine looked like a doily. Pulled it all out and did something else.

I'm stuck on it too...it's flat. It's now coming together like a hat.

Too complicated with all the short terms for me as a non native speaker. Would be easier with signs. Got even stuck in the first two sentences. Sewing is much easier in English.
