Pattern Description:

It's a Hoot!,, A beanie style hat done in beautiful cables to create an owl pattern all around the brim. The "owls" eyes are buttons which are attached during the actual crochet work and not sewn after. So no sewing on later!!! Standard 5/8 Inch buttons were used, but pony beads may be used as well. You can find glow in the dark pony beads inexpensively at Walmart and those could be used for the eyes,, how fun!!!

Stylish and classy for the adults and yet very cute and fun for the kids too!

Pattern is written in three sizes:

Adult size measures 20 Inches around X 8 1/2 Inches tall and has 6 "owls" around. Uses 12 Buttons.

Child/toddler size measures 17 Inches around X 7 Inches tall and has 5 "owls" around. Uses 10 Buttons.

Baby size measures 15 Inches around X 6 Inches tall and has 5 "owls" around. Uses 10 Buttons.

Written in American Standard terms and knowledge of front post crochet is required and assumed. This is not a beginner pattern due to the cabling design.

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Caron Simply Soft

Excellent It's a Hoot Owl Hat  December 21, 2012

Love the finished hat. I used a G hook - followed directions for baby but it came out to be a 12 months + size. I'm sure it's my crocheting tension along w/the yarn I used that made it larger. It is, however, still so cute!
