Cali Chic Patterns (CaliChicPatterns) was inspired from my desire to design and make knit and crochet blankets and accessories to comfort "little miracles" and satisfy knitters/ crocheters looking for attractive, chic and distinctive designs.
Moreover, I wanted to introduce patterns that contain incredible "detail" yet remain simple and easy to understand so joy and successful creation would be the experience, every time.
Growing up in Japan, I've studied and practiced knitting, crocheting and quilting since I was a teen. It's truly my passion. However, I was challenged here in the US where typical patterns do NOT have symbol charts or diagrams to visually show WHERE the stitches go. I was disappointed by this and decided if I ever made my own patterns, I would "combine" US Terms WITH international symbol charts to make the patterns the easiest for everyone to follow -- and succeed!
And that's just what I did.... Cali Chic Patterns is the expression of that desire.
The international community already uses crochet symbol charts and knitting diagrams, and these often "single page" patterns can be followed easily just putting stitches where the diagram shows them, in the count provided.
Therefore, an additional "gift" I am hoping to provide my US customers is to have them experience the achievement of successfully making a blanket, for example, following the US Terms AND looking at the Symbol Chart included during the process. They will see how "easy" these charts make knitting, especially crochet, and hopefully be motivated or INSPIRED to try patterns from "around the world" now that they know how to follow a symbol chart!
I hope my distinctive creations inspire you and you experience only success and joy making them yourself for your own family or as a gift for a special friend. Remember to embrace the charts and diagrams and I too will continue to grow, improve and create ever easier pattern instructions for, hopefully, ever cuter products.
THANK YOU so much for taking time to learn about me and Cali Chic Patterns.
