Basic Skills Necessary:

  • This pattern uses basic stitches - chains, single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet and slip stitches.
  • One of the optional flower patterns included also uses treble and double-treble stitches

Pattern Description:

This is a quick & easy crochet hat pattern; made with cotton yarn and an open mesh design for the main body of the hat. Perfect for a garden party, summer wedding, and any other outdoor event.

Use one of the two flower patterns included or your own favorite to add a special touch. You can attach the flower to a hair clip to make it easily removable and change the look of your hat to match your mood or outfit.


With I hook: 8 sc & 8 sc rows = 2 inches/5 cms
With J hook: 7 sc & 7 sc rows = 2 inches/5 cms

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Instructions included for sizes from 15 inches to 20 inches (unstretched) head circumference


  • .5 ounce/15 grams worsted weight cotton yarn for flower
  • Crochet hooks sizes H8/5.0mm (body of hat) & I9/5.5mm (brim)
  • 1.5 - 4 ounces (43 - 110 grams) worsted weight cotton yarn for hat
  • Crochet hook size J needed for adult size hat

You Will Also Need:

  • yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • 1 stitch marker
  • novelty button for flower center (optional)
