Red heart makes a yarn that is similar in colors called Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable that is 100 percent acrylic and machine washable. I like the candied. The colors would be a little different but I personally do not like wool blends. But it would have the same effects and look the same.

Any chance that this pattern will be translated to knitting? It looks like the crocodile stitch could be converted using short rows.... There are a whole SLEW of knitters out there that would LOVE To make this!!!

I love the way the chroma yarn looks. i'm concerned the wool yarns will be too ruff for a tiny baby's feet. is there a yarn that gives the same look but is softer and machine washable?

They're beautiful but I need to know what yarn also. I'm in Australia and I need to check availability before I buy the pattern.

As posted bywitchy_puppy above:
The yarn is in the pattern at the bottom of the "Materials" section (I copied the name below). I agree... it's beautiful.

"The booties showcased in pattern pictures were made with: Knit Picks Chroma (Fingering weight) in Prism colorway; 70% wool, 30% Nylon (396 yards/100 grams per skein)."

Hi Hulabean and Elaine,

The yarn is in the pattern at the bottom of the "Materials" section (I copied the name below). I agree... it's beautiful.

"The booties showcased in pattern pictures were made with: Knit Picks Chroma (Fingering weight) in Prism colorway; 70% wool, 30% Nylon (396 yards/100 grams per skein)."

I'm going to try it with Berroco Comfort DK Sport Weight (color 2813 - Multi Brights). If they come out ok, I'll post a picture!

To match colors ways, You begin a bootie and note what color order you are working with ... when you start the second bootie you unravel until you get to the same starting point. It's not an exact science, but it works.

I omitted the buttons and used sew-on velcro. The velcro can be adjusted and the booties look like they are pull-on booties. I was concerned the buttons would come off and my grandson would put them in his mouth and possibly choke on them.

I wouldn't class this as an absolute beginners project. If you know the stitches needed to complete it then I would have a go at it though :) The crocodile stitch is quite easy once you've got the hang of it.
