Coin purse with pinch purse closure

Coin purse with pinch purse closure info
Coin purse with pinch purse closure cover

Pattern Description:

Stash that cash in a cute crochet coin purse with a quirky chain detail. These little purses have 3 1/2" pinch purse frames. The pinch purse frame is installed in a "casing" around the top opening of your purse. When you pinch or squeeze in the ends, the frame opens the purse. When you release the pinch, the frame snaps shut.

If you prefer not to use a pinch purse frame, you can use hook and loop tape (Velcro(tm)). Be sure to get the softest one you can because you'll be sewing it on by hand.

Exact gauge is not necessary. This pattern however, is calculated using a gauge of 8 sc and 8 1/2 rows = 2" (5cm) using Bernat Handicrafter(r) Cotton yarn.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • approx 4" wide x 4" tall; top opening is 3 1/2" wide

  • 1 ball of each of 2 colours of Bernat Handicrafter Cotton
  • One 4.0mm (U.S. G-6*) or use hook size required to obtain correct gauge

You Will Also Need:

  • For pinch purse frame version: 1 pinch purse frame 3 1/2" long x 9mm wide and needle nose pliers for attaching.
  • For hook and loop version: Soft hook and loop (Velcro(tm)) ?3 1/2" length x 5/8" wide and sewing needle and thread for attaching.
  • Lobster Clasp (optional) approx 1" long.
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
