Pattern Description:

This pattern is for a fun, funky slouchy beanie constructed almost entirely out of granny squares! This hat updates the traditional granny square for a trendy, beautiful hippie chic look. The hat features a unique surface braid brim, and is sure to make a statement! The pattern comes with easy to follow step-by-step instructions and helpful, clear photos.

This is an original design, using US crochet terms. You may not copy, distribute or sell this pattern as your own design, but feel free to sell finished hats made from this pattern!


5 dc with G hook = 1", and 2 rows of dc with G hook = 1.2". Each square should measure approximately 6" across (side to side) when complete.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • One Size Fits Most
  • Hat brim measures approximately 19" around and 1.75" wide, and will stretch. Finished hat measures approximately 10-10.5" long.


  • Hook: Size G/6 (4mm)
