  • single crochet
  • double crochet
  • crochet in the front loop

Pattern Description:

This listing is for an adorable birthday hat to crochet for your child, grandchild, or as a gift! This hat comes with directions for three variations on edges: pom-pom, fur, or scalloped. There are directions for the spots as well, as many other creative suggestions to customize this little gem. Color-coordinate with the birthday theme! These would be perfect for cake smash photo shoots as well! One size fits all.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • One Size


  • Approximately 60 yards worsted weight yarn
  • Depending on which edge you choose:
  • 10 yards pom-pom yarn
  • 5 yards fun fur
  • 10 yards worsted weight yarn for scalloped edge
  • Pom-Pom for top of hat (optional) - 25 yards worsted weight yarn

You Will Also Need:

  • G - 4.25 mm hook (hat)
  • E - 3.25 mm hook (pom-pom edge)
  • tapestry needle
  • stitch marker
  • scissors
  • stretch lace, or an elastic band for chinstrap
  • hot glue gun
  • soft tape measure
