Add spontaneous piecing to your bag of quilting tricks and make a beautiful patchwork tote designed by Tara Rebman.
Learn the theory behind the quilt-as-you-go technique by working your way through a charming potholder before creating the “Tinker” patchwork bag from blocks you create on the fly. Tara shows you how to use scraps from your stash to build out from a single square using a freehanded approach that celebrates the uniqueness of each quilted bag. Whether you prefer straight-line or free-motion quilting, your extemporaneous blocks will blossom as your bag comes to life. Add a simple pocket or follow Tara’s instruction for a painless hidden zipper pocket. Learn how to add material to the bottom of your bag for extra durability and box corners for extra stability. Finish off your quilted bag with a magnetic closure and eye-catching bias binding. Or hand-sew an invisible binding for extra sophistication.

"I have never been good at bags, and I generally find the written instructions for bag patterns confusing and frustrating. This is not so with the QAYG Patchwork Bags class. Tara is such a wonderful instructor and she makes it easy to understand what she's talking about. I really enjoyed the video lessons and I made two potholders and a bag already. If you love making bags, or even if you've struggled with bags in the past, I recommend signing up for this class. Thank you Tara for sharing your talents with us!"

Tara Rebman, Instructor of Quilt-As-You-Go Patchwork Bags
I have no memories before I began creating. My current passions are quilting, garment and bag sewing, soap making, and cooking. I'm a professionally trained chef that runs a bed and breakfast by day, and crafts in every spare moment. I spin, weave, knit and crochet seasonally, all the while doing my damnedest to balance work, home and hobbies. My true passion lies with my husband and almost seven year old son. Their support and love keep me going and laughing, every single day!
