The Craftsy Block of the Month

174 reviews

Enjoy your class as many times as you want, whenever you want. Your access never expires.

Learn it...

Learn fun quilting techniques, make new friends and create a one-of-a-kind quilt with the FREE Craftsy Block of the Month! Each month, Amy Gibson will guide you through a specific quilting technique - half- and quarter-square triangles, appliqué, string quilting, paper piecing and more. Then she'll teach you two nifty 12-inch blocks using what you've learned. Some are brand-new designs, others fresh twists on traditional favorites. Along the way, you'll make 20 blocks from fat quarters, then assemble them into a throw-sized quilt.

Use Amy's selected fat quarters, Westminster Fabrics' contemporary FreeSpirit Boho, or choose favorites from your stash. It's a great class for experienced quilters, but jump right in if you have basic sewing skills and feel ready to tackle your first quilt!

Enroll free any time during the year and get instant access to all the lessons you've missed. As with all Craftsy courses, you can take the class at your own pace and your access never expires. Plus you get a great online community to share ideas with, and Amy at the ready to answer questions and help you along. We'd offer our 100 percent money-back guarantee, but we don't have to, because it's FREE!

Get ready for your next quilting adventure. Sign up for Craftsy's first-ever Block of the Month today!

A former fashion model booking agent, Amy Gibson launched Stitchery Dickory Dock "as an outlet for (her) fabric obsessions" while staying home with her daughters. A self-described craftaholic since childhood, Amy first learned to sew in 4-H. In junior high she joined a charity quilting group, People Comforters, which made quilts for deputy sheriffs to keep in their cruisers for victims of crimes and other traumatic events. She’s been pursuing quilting nirvana ever since.

Amy lives in Denver with her husband and two little girls, and has contributed to Moda Bakeshop, Pink Chalk Studio and Sew Mama Sew on Facebook. Keep up with her via her blog and on Twitter, Facebook or Flickr.

I'm really enjoying this course and can't wait untill the next months blocks are released. Amy is a brilliant teacher, she makes everything so easy to understand and very relaxed that as a quilting beginner i can easily keep up with the instructions. I would sign up to any quilting class Amy was teaching!

I anxiously await each installment. Amy is well informed and makes learning fun. The only criticism i would offer is offered in the gentlest voice and that is the too frequent use of um. That however would not prevent me from taking more of her classes, i look forward to them.

so far, I've learned lots and made the blocks that appeal to me. I even did multiples of one for a lap quilt for the nursing home.

Love the 'don't overthink this' theme of this class. Refreshing break from trying to follow tedious instructions and agonizing over do I have the 'right' fabric. Stress relieving to just pick fabrics, cut and sew. Love that each block is completely different with new (to me) ideas. Got a big kick out of the message I got when I tried to peek ahead to the next months lesson!

Amy is soooooo much fun. Her enthusiasm is contagious. Just listening to her makes you not want to get behind in making your blocks. I'm having a ball and I have been quilting for 29 years.

There can be no dispute that Any is a wonderful teacher. The ease with which she does the blocks sets one free from all fears and instills a desire to be as good as her. The class itself is structured from easy blocks to slightly challenging ones. And to have so many others doing a project alongside is the biggest inspiration to do one's best. So many ideas that are freely exchanged along with tips for improvement and of course appreciation makes this craftsy class something to look forward ...

Excellent New to quilting  May 15, 2012

I got the quilting bug last Christmas, when I made a little string quilt for my granddaughter's doll. Now I am looking at my "stash" and thinking that it could be a quilt one day, but didn't know where to start. I joined the Craftsty Block of the Month and have viewed all the videos. While I have not (yet) started on any of the blocks, I feel confident that once I find the material and the time, I can complete each of the blocks. Amy's directions are very clear and I love having this ...

I have been a quilter for many years and this has been one of the most enjoyable classes I have done.. Amy is a great teacher and adds much to the class. And I love that she is a lefty. I am also and for years have had to do things "backwards" so it is great to see it the right way! Only problem that I have had is that I can use a sewing machine pretty good but am not so good on computers so haven't been able to figure out how to do pictures of my blocks! Any help would be appreciated.....I ...
