Spoonflower + Craftsy: Summer Tote Contest
Craftsy is teaming up with Spoonflower for a fun summer contest! In order to participate in this contest, all you need to do is create a summer tote that includes Spoonflower fabric. The fabric can be either your own design or fabric from the Spoonflower marketplace of indie designers.
Upload your project to Craftsy by July 20, and make sure to include “Spoonflower” somewhere in the title. The designers of the three projects that receive the most hearts by July 26 will win a free Craftsy class and credit to create custom fabric at Spoonflower.
Remember, you don’t need to make your entire tote from Spoonflower fabric, but the bag must at least include it. When you upload the project to Craftsy, please include a link to the Spoonflower fabric that you used. That means that if you created your own, you’ll need to make the design public in the Spoonflower marketplace.
So start using that Spoonflower fabric to create some totally fabulous totes! Click here to enter.

Have you been spying on me? I JUST made a tote bag last weekend with some spoonflower fabric I had laying around… sure, I’ll post it! Joined craftsy just for this
Hello-
I have a question about the tote contest… Does the tote pattern have to be one I created or can I use another pattern?
Emily Dykstra
Hi Emily,
The tote pattern does not have to be your own original pattern, you can use whatever pattern you’d like! Just make sure that Spoonflower fabric is somewhere on the tote.
Best,
Megan
Hi,
Are we allowed to use fabric that we designed (or is already available on Spoonflower) that include copyrighted images? Such as movie characters, etc.?
thanks,
Sarah
Hi Sarah,
I’d say that it’s ok to use fabric that includes copyright images, but I’ll try to circle back and check with some people here and see what their take is.
Best,
Megan
Game on! I love a good competition and what a great motivator for finally completing a fabric design or two
This sounds like a fun thing to try. I’m not framiliar with the fabric, though. Where can I see it? Or can I just design something myself?? I need your help!!! Thanks for anything you can tell me.
Hi Joan,
Happy to help! You can create your own Spoonflower fabric here, and can see the fabric marketplace, where you can buy fabric that others have made, here. Hope this helps!
There may not be much time to order from Spoonflower directly, but you also could check out Spoonflower designers that have their fabric already printed and for sale on Etsy. I’m khowardquilts on both and there is a Spoonflower Designers Team on Etsy that I captain. I don’t have much fabric there, but other designers do have a selection.
Does the link to the Spoonflower fabric go in the for sale slot or somewhere else? I used my own fabric for part of my tote. I have the four fabrics in a collection at Spoonflower so I can link to all four. I have my entry as a draft right now. I really can’t do the directions, because I don’t really remember how I did it.
Hi Kathy,
Yes go ahead and put a link to any of the Spoonflower fabric that you used in the description of your project on Craftsy. The links can go in the “materials” section when you upload your project. Add as much information as you want about how you created it!
My best,
Megan
I placed my order on the 28th and it’s been telling me since then that my order is expected to ship in the next couple days. I’m hoping it comes in enough time for me to make something and still get votes. I like the idea of spoonflower, but you definitely can’t buy fabric on a whim expecting to receive it expediently.
Hi…just wondering how we will see the winners of this competition…?
Hi Shelley,
We will be announcing the winners soon! Stay tuned!
