July’s Photo of the Month: Unwind With a Sinking Summer Sun

Posted by on Jul 6, 2014 in Photography |

July is a month where everything seems to slow down. Long summer days trickle cautiously to their end, giving us plenty of lead time for capturing the beauty of an evening sunset. Looking at this Photo of the Month from Craftsy member joecrean, we feel ourselves melting into the stillness of a warm July night right along with the hazy summer sun.

We love the use of both texture and composition in this landscape photo. The exposure is equally impressive, as facing the sun often can put everything else in the image in shadow and silhouette. Such quality of exposure allows us to see all the beautiful color and light available when photographing at dusk.

This photo truly speaks to the summertime feeling. The boat and the sun pop. But, you can relax as you scan over the image, letting your eyes move from the shape of the clouds, to the rich color of the sky, to the great texture of the water and elements in the foreground.
