Bundle Up With Warm Cozy Knits

Posted by on Jan 19, 2014 in Knitting | Comments

Don’t you just love it when there are special months for knitting? January is officially Warm Cozy Knits Month! This dedicated month means it’s time to don those warm, cozy knits — you know, the kind that are suitable for sitting by the fire while you drink hot chocolate. Is it a coincidence that I’m wearing a super chunky wrap sweater as I type this?

Dozens of Craftsy designers are ready to help you bundle up. Say buh-bye to chills and check out a couple of cozy knits that recently caught our eye on Craftsy.

Hepburn cardigan coat

This cozy cardigan is inspired by — who else? — Audrey Hepburn. If that gorgeous collar with buttons isn’t enough to make you swoon, check out the structure of the sleeves. Could I live in this coat all winter? Yep, I think so!

Knitted hot water bottle cover

Mount-Royal hot water bottle cover

A hot-water bottle is unbelievably comforting on freezing-cold nights. Make yours even cozier when you slip this beautiful lace chevron cover over it. It adds just the right amount of coziness to an already-warming bottle, don’t you think?

Knitted hood

Isaure hood

This hood defines cozy — and it even covers more of your head than a regular hat would. It’s great for warm coats that don’t already have a hood attached. When the hood’s not pulled over your head, it looks just as lovely resting on your shoulders.

Dreaming away throw

Get cuddly on the couch with this gorgeous textured throw. The stitches of the throw make it even cozier than usual, so grab your cable needle and get ready to knit. Bonus: you’ll even be warm and cozy while the blanket is in-progress in your lap!

Reversible knit wrap

Little bear’s porridge reversible wrap

I’m going to hire someone to dress me Downton Abbey-style so they can wrap me like a mummy in this reversible wrap. The pattern uses a chunky yarn, too, so it works up quickly. You can even add additional length to make the wrap more snuggly than it already is.

Ash oversized sweater

Wriggle into that funnel neck and hang on for dear life. It doesn’t get any warmer than this. The garter stitch and simple shaping make this a perfect project for beginners. Seasoned knitters will knit this one up in no time, maybe even while watching a movie!

While we’re on the subject of warm and cozy, Craftsy has plenty of other projects to keep you equally warm.

In Rhonda Fargnoli’s My First Slip-Stitch Afghan class, you’ll knit up a blanket that’s just as warm as it is colorful. It would pair perfectly with your cozy sweaters! You can also keep your head cozy with Hats Four Ways: Circular Knit Lab, where Stefanie Japel will help you master four different hat patterns that are knit seamlessly in the round.
