Craftsy Features

Jenn, Director of Community RelationsHey Craftsy Community, I’m Jenn, Director of Community Relations here at Craftsy. As you know everything we do at Craftsy is to improve your learning experience and inspire you to create! We’re excited to let you know about these recent site improvements we’ve made in response to your feedback. As a company, we know that it’s important to build features to better our community, so we’re always listening to our members’ suggestions for direction. We’re proud to let you about a select few of the many site features we’ve introduced in the past year thanks to your feedback.

Closed Captioning on CraftsyYou might have noticed, we released Closed Captioning for more than 70 classes, meaning not only can you follow along word by word, but you can search classes for any keyword, phrase, or technique you may be looking for.

Wishlist on CraftsyWe’ve also introduced the Wishlist. Now you can easily save and store all of your favorite classes, patterns, or projects on Craftsy. Just click the “Save to Wishlist” button on any product page and we’ll keep track of all your wishes! And if you want to not-so-subtly suggest a gift you’d enjoy, you can even share your Wishlist.

Craftsy Gift CardYour friends and family will be happy to know that you can now “gift” any class or workshop to anyone as well- just click that lovely “Buy as a Gift” button on any class page. When you give your best friend the gift of a class, you can both enjoy taking it together.

Craftsy Shopping CartAnd last but not least, we created a shopping cart! While it took a lot of engineering power to build, we knew this was something you asked for, so we were sure to create it. You can now add classes, workshops, and physical goods to your cart for one easy checkout experience.

We hope you’ve enjoyed using these tools as much as we’ve enjoyed creating them. Stay tuned as we’ll continue to update you throughout the year about new features that we hope will make your Craftsy experience even better.

These are nice features. Thank you for it!
I was wondering why the option for watching a few minutes of first three lessons in a class disappeared? IMHO – It is nice to have an inside view of the class I buy.

  2. Go Craftsy! Always improving and getting better! Keep up the good work.

Thank you Craftsy, for all you do. You make learning easy and fun. If it weren’t for this website, and Amy Gibson’s BOM, I never would have learned how to piece a quilt. And I’m so happy there is a another BOM this year, although I haven’t started it yet. Even though I’m new to quilting, I’ve already acquired the apparently common characteristic: many projects started and few finished!!

  4. Sarah E. says:

Best new addition is the shopping cart! Thank you so much for making your site more user friendly and streamlined.

Vi seguo spesso ed ho anche acquistato lezioni ma non riesco ad acquistare i tessuti che mi servono perchè non li spedite in italia e forse costerebbero anche troppo. Riuscite a dirmi in europa chi puo’ avere i vostri prodotti?
    Grazie e buona giornata Laura

      Hi Laura57,

At this time our Craftsy team is working to develop better international shipping options for our customers living outside the US. We will be sure to make it known when we do begin our shipping service again internationally. Please rest assured that you are still welcome to order courses, workshops and patterns from anywhere in the world! I hope you continue to enjoy Craftsy.com!

Oh I’m just patiently waiting (well maybe not patiently, LOL) for a app that will work with my Nexus 7 tablet!!! Would be wonderful to have when I am in the hospital as most of the time the lap top is to inconvenient with all my tubes and such.
Love all the new features, heck I just LOVE Craftsy period!!!

  7. Pam NZ says:

Love Craftsy, a whole new world has opened up for me in the past year since joining! Thanks (I think LOL) for creating a Wish List too!

  8. As an educator, I have researched and attended many online classes. Craftsy has the best platform and learning structure I have seen for crafts and even for education in general. Way to go!

  9. Andie says:

Thanks for the improvements. Frankly I think none of them are as useful as the “Quick Look” view of the first couple minutes of the first few lessons, or having an honest assortment of reviews available instead of solely “recent 5-star reviews.” Bring those features back in your next batch of improvements!

    1. Support says:

Thanks for the feedback! While we have removed the ‘Quick Look’ feature, we have recently added our new instructor pages. On an instructor page you can learn more about an instructor, watch a video of them to get a feel for their style, and see any updates they have! To find this, just click on the instructors name from the class page. Here’s is a great example of this instructor page for one of our knitting instructor’s Stefanie Japel: http://www.craftsy.com/instructors/stefanie-japel

    2. Kharmin / Karen J says:

I agree with Andie ~ let us see the *genuine* reviews, not just your favorite ‘cherry picked’ ones (An option button would be sufficient…).
Since people vary so widely in their preferences for presentation and learning style, any point that One doesn’t appreciate, may be just exactly what Another is looking for…

      1. Support says:

        Hi Karen,

Thanks for your feedback. We have designed the class reviews in such a way so that others can see what members loved about the class while simultaneously getting a sense of whether the class is a good fit for them. One of the main reasons we currently do not display all of the reviews at once is because the current design and navigation of the page isn’t ideal for that since classes can often have hundreds of reviews each. With that said, we are always happy to share with you the full reviews for any classes you are interested in.

If there are any specific classes that you would like to see the full reviews for please feel free to send the Craftsy support team your request to help@craftsy.com! We are happy to share this information with you, as we want you to enjoy your Craftsy classes to be the best fit for you. We also have a Money Back Guarantee on our classes, if you decide a class that you recently enrolled in isn’t the best for you, we are happy to honor our Satisfaction Guarantee.

        1. Debbie says:

I agree – and think many folks miss the reviews. Nothing takes the place of honest reviews and I’ve hesitated on more than one class recently due to this. I do not think it’s in the best interest of time to always ask Craftsy for review info before enrolling in any class…at least to me. Please find a way to bring these back – surely there is more than one option! :)
