This summer, Craftsy began partnering with some of our most popular yarn companies and our beloved in-house knitwear designer, Stefanie Japel, to create beautiful and exclusive colorways just for our Craftsy customers. The project has been really fun for all involved. There is so much that goes into making a skein of yarn (in any color). All of the companies we’ve been working with put a lot of thought and research into all the things that go into a yarn- from the type(s) of fiber and the way they are blended to the colors of dye and the names of the colorways. You may have read the blog post about our last collection.
For this round, Stefanie has been working with Amanda and Beth from Lorna’s Laces- who’ve created stunning and unique colorways such as “Zombie BBQ” and “Franklin’s Panoptican.” Stefanie shared some of her favorite photos of her two daughters. One photo is of their hair sparkling in the sun (called “Tresses”), one is of the two girls in their tutus, tights and shoes (called “Ballet”) and one is of their playroom full of their favorite toys (called “Play TIme”). Amanda and Beth then took the inspiration from the photos and turned them into hanks of stunningly colored alpaca and silk yarn.
“Honor” is Stefanie’s personal favorite of all of Lorna’s magical fiber blends- “I chose Honor because it’s my absolute favorite yarn from Lorna’s Laces. Honor has a beautiful, soft hand and a delicate halo. It drapes beautifully, and works well for both garments and accessories. It’s also one of the few silk-containing yarns that I can work with (I have an allergy to most silks).”
This collection of yarns will be available in limited quantities through Craftsy beginning on December 7th. Each skein of Craftsy Designer Collection Yarn will come with a free cowl pattern designed by Stefanie that isn’t available anywhere else.
I’m so excited about this collection that I’m giving away one skein of each color along with Stefanie’s fantastic cowl pattern. Click here to enter for a chance to win. Good luck!
