These days it seems the most impressive cakes are the ones that look nothing like cake! With television shows like TLC’s Cake Boss and the Food Network’s Last Cake Standing, home cake decorators are striving to replicate the life-like cakes they see on screen.

The following Craftsy projects are cakes that almost fooled us! Check out these realistic cakes based on the recipients’ favorite pastimes, hobbies, and objects.

Fondant Cake Design

We love this Pin Cushion Cake made by Craftsy member DeannaSB! She used a mix of air-brushed fondant and melted chocolate to get the totally realistic details.

Check out this Ice Skate Cake, made by Craftsy member wendy-re, for a great replication of a favorite winter sport.

This Sculpted Camera Cake, created by Craftsy member HeavenlyCakes, is the groom’s cake for the wedding of two photographers.
