Recently, some of us headed over to Fancy Tiger Crafts for a Meet & Greet / Book Signing with Meg McElwee of Sew Liberated. It’s always great when instructors get the chance to mingle with their fans while they’re in town shooting a class. (Yep – that’s right! Meg’s Sewing with Knits: Five Wardrobe Essentials class is available now!)

One of Sew Liberated’s biggest fans at Craftsy is Sadie, who helps bring you awesome Deals on fabric, notions, and patterns. She also creates kits to go along with our quilting and sewing classes. When she doesn’t have her Buyer hat on, Sadie is over at Fancy Tiger teaching Sewing 101 and other simple garment and accessory classes. So Sadie, give us the scoop!

Meg, oh-so-stylish in her Ashland Dress - sewn in a lightweight stretch denim

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was when I heard that Meg was launching a Craftsy class on sewing with knits! Meg is a pattern designer, author of two great sewing and craft books, a Montessori educator and dedicated mother of two adorable little boys. She is truly inspiring. In fact, it is her creative hands-on approach to parenting that makes her blog such a great place to find inspiration for sewists, crafters and parents alike.

In my role at Craftsy, I don’t often get to interact with the instructors during their whirlwind filming – so I jumped at the chance to share a glass of wine and chat with Meg in person. A fun group turned out for the event, and bonded over kids, starting small businesses, and crafting in general. Meg has a wealth of knowledge in all these areas and was generous in sharing her own experiences.

Fancy Tiger sells Meg’s books and sewing patterns, along with all the beautiful fabrics and supplies needed to whip up any Sew Liberated projects. I just purchased the Ashland Dress pattern, and can’t wait to make it with some gorgeous Anna Griffin fabric.

If you’re like me and counting down the days til our Sewing with Knits class goes live, you can find more Sew Liberated goodness in the meantime though Meg’s blog, books, and patterns.

Thanks again to Jaime, Amber, and the rest of the Fancy Tiger team for planning and hosting a lovely event!

Claudia, who teaches for both Craftsy and Fancy Tiger, came out to say hi to Meg - with her two young sewing fans in tow.
