Introducing The Spring Fling Project Contest Thing

Now that spring is here, we’re reveling in the warmer weather and the sunshine. It makes us think of birdsongs, and gentle breezes. And, of course, it makes us think about crafting. And when we think about crafting, we think about projects. And when we think about projects, we think about project contests!

So, with that, we present you with our latest contest: The Spring Fling Project Contest Thing!

Similar to other project contests, the rules are simple: upload your spring-themed/spring-inspired projects and put the words “Spring Fling” in your project title! (That’s important, as that’s how we know it’s a submission.) The project with the most hearts, by April 15th, wins. The Craftsy member who owns that project wins free access to any Craftsy class of their choice!

Thanks for offering the contests…but I always have trouble finding a link to where it is I’m supposed to go to upload a submission! I’m a little computer challenged and it’s probably right there in front of my nose…but not obvious to me!!! Thanks again!!!

Hi David,

I’m new here at Craftsy, and would love to join the contest. How and where do I upload my submission?

Thank you,

Arianne

In the spirit of spring and the litereary “ides of March” thing.. There is a party every year at a friend’s house.
I know it sounds silly, but it is an Ides of March party, and of course it’s an anual TOGA PARTY! This year I wll be in attendance with a great toga that I am currently working on. Even though sheets are “acceptable” for this sort of thing, I much prefer something more formal for a toga. I wll be making the toga and a beautiful mantle as well as the decorative accessories like a matching choker, bracelets and arm band set. I am crossing my finger sthat it all turns out as I hope.. Being only a novice at sewing. :-)

Do you want all the instructions or just a photo of the project?

What do you think about changing the title of a recent Spring-themed project I uploaded to enter this contest? By change, I mean, add the words “Spring Fling.” And can we do more than one project? Thanks!

Reply
David

You’re welcome to change the title of a recent spring-inspired project. Enter as many as you’d like!

I keep getting a “bad kitty”error and have to keep typing my instructions! It’s very frustrating. Am I doing something wrong or does the site have a glitch?

Hi!
If we are making a quilt for the contest, does it have to be quilted and bound, or can it be just the quilt top? Thank you!

When/how can we start looking and “hearting” the projects that have been submitted?

Reply
David

Search for “Spring Fling” in the project section, then click the heart if you like it!

I noticed we’re supposed to include hearts in the project? As I recall, I thought that was on a previous contest. Do you really mean to do that again?

Spring doesn’t bring to mind hearts, particularly since Valentine’s Day is over. I’m more in the mood for nature stuff.

Was that a misprint?

Reply
David

No, you don’t need to include the hearts. What we’re saying is that the project that gets the most hearts (people click the hearts when they like it, so get your friends to visit Craftsy to click the heart to “like” it) wins.

Can we enter more than one item? And who decides if it’s ‘Spring themed’? :) My idea of spring my not be someone else’s.
Thanks a bunch!

If you put “Spring Fling” in the title, we’ll assume you have/had Spring in mind with your project! And yes, enter as many as you’d like. A helpful hint: get your friends to Craftsy to click the hearts, too!

Can it be a kit that I ordered and put together or does it have to be an original?

Reply
David

Any project, as long as you made it, counts. Many people work off patterns, and that’s fine!

Do you have instructions for uploading from an iPhone or iPad?

What does “The project with the most hearts, by April 15th, wins” mean?

Reply
David

When you have a project, people can click the heart button to show that they like it. Every person who clicks the heart is recorded as a number of hearts. So if three people click the heart, your project will have three hearts. (You can see the number in the right corner of the project image.) So the project with the most hearts by April 15th wins.

David,
Imagine my surprise and pleasure to see in my email yesterday that my “Spring Fling” home decor tapestry had been seleceted as a runner-up. With much thanks for the honor! I hope everyone has as much pleasure viewing my tapestry as I did making it.
